The German IPv6 Council has been established to group all the different persons in industry, research, politics and administration in the IPv6 field in Germany with the clear mission to advocate IPv6 by improving technology, market, and deployment user and industry awareness of IPv6, creating a quality and secure new Generation Internet.

The German IPv6 Council invites applications for the International IPv6 Application Contest 2010. The objectives of this contest are the generation of ideas and applications, which help determine how to introduce IPv6, the internet of the next generation on a large scale and use it effectively. At the 2nd German IPv6 Summit at Hasso-Plattner-Institut in Potsdam, May 14-15, 2009 the German IPv6 Council presented the National IPv6 Action Plan for Germany, which contains a a list of measures to be taken to enable an efficient nationalwide changeover towards the deployment of the new Internet Protocol IPv6 for the german politics, public services, economy, and science.
